Unemployment rate is the share of the civilian labor force age 16+ that is not employed and is actively seeking work. People not seeking work are not counted as unemployed.

LFPR measures the civilian, noninstitutionalized population age 16+. Residents in nursing or long-term care facilities, people who are incarcerated, and active-duty military personnel are excluded from this count.

Nonfarm employment growth tracks year-over-year percentage change in payroll jobs from employer survey data. It excludes self-employed workers, unpaid family workers, private household workers, and active-duty military.

Average annual wage is total annual payroll divided by average annual employment for covered jobs. It reflects employer-reported payroll positions and does not include self-employed income.
